So, this month was great, crazy, emotional, intense and fun all at once. There was so much going on with family, friends, room mates, the ward, my job, school preparations and my personal life that I was wondering if I'll be able to stay sane. I'm pleased to report that I did seem to manage to resemble some sort of sanity, unless I only managed to delude myself. If that's the case, ignorance is bliss, right? Let me begin the tale of this month by telling you about my job...I absolutely love the people I work with!!! But sometimes there is a lot of DRAMA not just with our other coworkers but also with the patients... It's quite entertaining until it get's targeted to those who have no fault at all and get hurt by it. All in all though, I feel so blessed to have this job and I learn so much by working with our patients and the dental staff.
Some of the things that our patients say just make me laugh and then I have to remember to be professional and that can be so hard! Just the other day, I did some reminder calls and the patient's mom, after asking if I was calling from Dr. Harris's dentist office, told me to schedule a check up for her son's ear canals. After I explained that we work with teeth only, she said she didn't want to go to the doctor twice and wanted it all in one appointment. At that point I was at a loss... Today a protective mother frantically asked me to somehow fit her boy in for a cleaning because she was concerned that his teeth otherwise will rott and fall out. We are booked out quite a bit in advance for hygienist appointments, which means the earliest I could offer her was 3 weeks from now. That wasn't soon enough. As she was talking about her son, I got the impression that he was this little cute boy who she simply adored and that was very clever and smart for his age but needed some guidance in taking care of his teeth (according to his mom). I thought her concern and descriptions were adorable, until I found out that he was almost 25. Another time I was by myself because my coworker had something going on and didn't make it to work. It was a crazy morning with loads of phone calls etc. While I was working on 5 things this 20-something, year old student kept on watching me and I started feeling uncomfortable. It wasn't just watching, it was seriously almost stalking.... I was so glad I could ignore him for some time. When it got around to me asking him to pay his bill, his attempt at flirting with me stopped very quickly :) Oh, the power of money....haha. The creepiest part of this incident is that I saw him at church the sunday after. He is in my stake. Ode to joy... Well, enough said. Let's move on to a different topic!
Social things I did this month... I had some great out door adventures with friends like tubing, hiking, cemetery exploring and extreme stair walking (up Old Main Hill), It was epic! I also experienced a 4H (horse) show with great friends and felt like I was even more Americanized. At one point of the month my car was acting up which resulted in missing some great events. I survived it though and more importantly Apollo (my car) did as well. I also got to go to Rebecca's Baptism and experienced the Musical 'Sound of Music' with Grandma and Grandpa Jensen, which was fantastic!
I mentioned this month was busy. I got to go on several very fun dates with a fabulous guy. I know almost every single one of you (readers of my blog) have stayed tuned over the last year and a half, with the sole purpose of reading about my love life and are just sitting at the edge of your seat right now hoping to finally hear the little details. HAHA, I can clearly visualize you especially, Onkel Oli getting really excited. I do (almost :) hate to disappoint all of you but the internet is such a public place to share my inner souls emotions :) (yes, I am being dramatic and slightly ironic) anyway, I will stick to a few facts!
We went to the 'world famous' Preston Rodeo and Parade. Very fun! I felt like I bonded with Napoleon Dynamite (just a little bit). Random tidbit-the parade had a star wars section and a hearse with a coffin in it. I forgot to bring my camera, sorry Kristin! We also explored USU and had a pick-nick lunch in my favorite spot on campus. I noticed how little I know about my school and made an increased effort since, to become a converted Aggie. (not to mistake with an ultimate Aggie!). We did check out the art museum (which I didn't know existed prior) and I did immediately find the Aggie Ice Cream Place so, I guess I'm good with the essentials. Another time we went and checked out the 'not so world famous' but equally impressive Cache Valley Fair and topped it with Despicable Me (which I enjoyed even more the second time!) and a Fazookie (a delicious dessert at the restaurant we ate at. If you have never had one, I'm sorry but you honestly haven't lived life to it's fullest!). Last weekend I was privileged to go to a Boy Scout Camp Ground in Idaho, where I got to spend time with some wonderful people. It was so great! Some of my personal favorite activities of the weekend where sleeping in "the cave" and it's bunk beds. Designing my own leather wear, star gazing and seeing 9 Shooting stars, playing the Ukulele, and trying to coax the cutest baby into liking me (very unsuccessfully :). Yesterday we went to Lagoon. My favorite rides were definitely the Rocket, the Ferris Wheel, the Swing Carousel and the 2nd Train ride. I also overcame my fear of loops on roller coasters and conquered the Terror Ride and Dracula's castle (which was so scary, even Dracula couldn't handle it and abandoned it). So, Lagoon is definitely fun and I can recommend it. But beware! They don't believe in equality for all! They like to segregate single people from couples! As this blog post is already too long for even the most patient person and since I relentlessly refuse to give you more personal details I'll simply end by sharing some pictures!
I promise I'll be good! I won't speed anymore and I will refrain from spitting down on people from the rides!
aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh, it's a voulcher!
just maybe I'll live to see the day the white coaster turns completely brown
There you go, Trace and I on the Ferris Wheel
